High school CTE students are taking their lessons in math, blueprint reading, science, and safety practices from the classroom to the building site as they construct a tiny house in partnership with Micro Showcase.  Micro-building offers an accessible way for students to learn about energy-efficient design and sustainable building.  Work- and college-bound Academy students are proud to contribute to this unique project that models a potential solution for creating more affordable housing in Washington, DC.  Shelly Karriem has led the Academy of Construction and Design since it opened at D.C.’s Cardozo High School in 2005, and is now located at the IDEA public charter school in SE DC.
