A good friend is the new head of California’s Department of Housing and Community Development, and passed along this newly issued Information Bulletin 2016-01 from the Codes and Standards Division on tiny houses. The Department is attempting to clarify what is permissible, and where, across the state. It is a useful summary of the types of micro housing, and what rules regulate each type. This type of guidance is surely to be copied by other states and jursidictions as the micro housing movement spreads.
